The Sadhukhan family from Dhanbad can finally relax as the doctor who had allegedly administered wrong medication to their son will be facing an inquiry.

MiD DAY reported the story on December 10, 2009 (click to read)

After MiD DAY reported how the Sadhukhans were cheated by one Dr Supriyo Mukherjee, who claimed to be a doctor from All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), the Delhi Medical Council has set up an inquiry to probe the case. MiD DAY reported the story on December 10, 2009.

While talking to MiD DAY, Delhi Medical Council Secretary Girish Tyagi said, "We have sent a letter to the Director of Health Care Services to conduct an enquiry by nephrologists of the treatment done on Niladri Sadhukhan. We have called Supriyo Mukherjee to appeal and show his credentials and accordingly action will be taken."

Meanwhile, in a statement, AIIMS has clarified there is no such doctor working with them. The statement said, "That a doctor namely Supriyo Mukherjee allegedly claiming to be a doctor from AIIMS had given wrong treatment to a patient namely Indraneel Sadhukhan and landed him in the ICU. The institute hereby clarifies its position in this regard. There is no such doctor in the institute by the name Supriyo Mukherjee and the patient was not treated in AIIMS... the institute has nothing to do with the case which seems to be a case of fraud."

The allegations

Madhumita Sadhukhan, the mother of 21-year-old Indranil, who is under going dialysis for the failure of both kidneys, had alleged Dr Mukherjee had mistreated her son and almost killed him.
