The recently-concluded Dream Team Tour (DTT) was billed as one of Bollywood’s biggest live shows abroad, but it seems singer Kailash Kher is a bigger draw in the US than seven A-listers put together.

Kher reveals how promoters of the B’wood show, fearing competition, contacted hosts of the singer’s ongoing US tour to postpone his Houston concert. The date (August 12) coincided with the first gig of the DTT gang — Katrina Kaif, Sidharth Malhotra, Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Parineeti Chopra and Aditya Roy Kapur — in the Texan city.

Says Kher, “There was buzz that promoters of DTT were stressed about more people being interested in attending our concert (Kailasa). My manager and band members got calls about how our show was strategically organised around India’s Independence Day to eclipse DTT. The organisers of DTT wanted us to change the date of our show. It was unbelievable.”

The singer adds that the show was themed around Independence Day of India and Pakistan’s Independence Days (August 15 and August 14, respectively). “We went ahead with our concert. The venue was packed with over 10,000 people. A few Pakistani artistes also performed with us,” he says. Kher feels it’s funny that a music concert was considered an obstacle for a celeb-driven event. “I experienced how we musicians can cause stress to such Bollywood show organisers. Their insecurity was weird,” he adds.
