Driver of multi-axle vehicle slapped with Rs 3,000 fine for driving on Eastern Freeway

On Sunday night a multi-axle vehicle carrying an industrial unit illegally took the Eastern Freeway from Chembur. The Trombay Traffic Police reached the spot and took action as per Motor Vechile Act

On Sunday night a multi-axle vehicle carrying an industrial unit illegally took the Eastern Freeway from Chembur. The Trombay Traffic Police reached the spot and took action as per Motor Vechile Act.

The vehicle carrying industrial unit which was coming from Navi Mumbai and going towards south Mumbai. The driver took a left turn towards the Eastern Freeway from Chembur and went ahead after crossing the tunnel.  It should be noted that entry to heavy vehicles is completely banned on the Eastern Freeway. The trailer's entry on the freeway raises the question if the Traffic police official properly monitoring the movement of vechiles on Freeway.

Speaking to mid day, police Inspector S R Patil from Trombay Traffic Police said, "Action has been taken against him as per Motor Vehicle Act and a fine of Rs 3000 has been taken from the driver. When inquired why he took the freeway , the driver told us that he took the same by mistake."
