New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi Sunday said drug abuse brings "darkness, destruction and devastation" and underlined the need to fight the habit.
"I had said the last time that I was worried about the youth of the country. I am worried as some sons and daughters get stuck with drugs and the entire family is torn apart," Modi said in his monthly 'Mann Ki Baat' programme on radio.
"It can destroy very good families. Drugs is something that can shatter anyone," he added.
"When a child is stuck in something like this, we blame the children. But it is the habit which is bad, not the child, and we should try and keep them away from such things.
"This is a psycho-social medical problem and cannot be solved only through medical means," he said.
Modi said that drug abuse lad to three d's: destruction, devastation and darkness.
