The Drum Circle is the brainchild of clinical psychologist, percussionist and drummer Varun Venkit. He is currently pursuing research on the effect of drum circles on stress reduction and relaxation with various populations. He has been playing the Djembe for five years.
“Our aim is to reach out to people using the medium of a drum and positively influence the areas of health and well-being, ensure stress reduction, enhance communication, and to help the participants learn a new discipline — the Djembe,” says Venkit. The Drum Circle is open to everyone. No prior musical background is required.
