Tucker had complete control of everything that was happening on the ground, but he couldn't stop a sloshed fan from shouting instructions to Kusal Mendis during the Sri Lankan innings.
"Play defensive, Mendis, don't lose your mind, keep focus and save your wicket for tomorrow. Yes! You can do it," were some of his words to the Sri Lankan opener. And whenever Mendis played a defensive shot, he shouted, "Yeah, play like that."
His non-stop blabber disturbed Tucker's concentration and the Aussie gestured to the highly charged fan, SP Jayan, 40, to keep quiet by keeping a finger on his lips, but to no avail. His voice could be heard all around the stadium and his coaching tips attracted the Indian team's attention too.
When security staff at the ground asked Jayan to leave the venue, he went mum, but only for a while and started all over again. His voice echoed all through the day and stopped only when stumps were drawn for the day
