Karsten Dsouza and Krishna Karkera's brace stand out as Matunga side thrash Sanjivani School 6-0 to enter semi-finals of District Sports Office (DSO) inter-divisional U-14 boys' tournament

Don Bosco High School (Matunga) progressed to the semi-finals of the District Sports Office (DSO) inter-divisional U-14 boys' tournament defeating Sanjivani International School (Kharghar) 6-0 at the Fr Agnel Stadium in Vashi yesterday. Bosco's central midfielders Karsten D'Souza, Krishna Karkera and Samar Khalatkar saw their names on the scoresheet with the former two scoring braces and registering two assists each. Striker Faizuddin Siddiqui too found himself among the scorers.

Karsten strikes first
Karsten drew first blood for the Matunga outfit when he brilliantly scored through a freekick. Samar got in on the act few minutes later to double Bosco's lead. The third goal scored by Faizuddin was probably the goal of the day given how the whole team combined to score it. The ball went from the right to left via a Karsten freekick which ended with Krishna in the box, who passed it to Faizuddin who tapped the ball in. With the game virtually in the bag, the Bosco boys started to express themselves more.
Momentum, the key
Don Bosco coach Mohan Pillay said that playing many matches on the trot was the reason his boys performed well. “The performance was really good today. Playing so many tournaments like the Subroto Cup and Utpal Sanghvi tournament has helped the boys get an idea as to how to go about things. Everyone was fantastic. Our center-back Vansh was faultless and our midfielders were fabulous,” Pillay told mid-day yesterday. Karsten, who put in a really good performance, was also happy with the way things shaped out for the team.
