Cathedral and John Connon School's (Fort) girls' teams have had a good couple of days. After winning 5-0 against Smt RSB Arya Vidya Mandir (Juhu) in the semi-finals of the Mumbai Schools Sports Association (MSSA) Div I U-16 inter-school football tournament two days before, their U-19 side achieved a similar feat as they comfortably beat college side St Xavier's (CST) 3-0 in the District Sports Office (DSO) Mumbai City District level U-19 football tournament at Azad Maidan yesterday.

The Cathedral team, which largely consists of the same players from the U-16 team, were never in doubt as they brushed aside St Xavier's with a controlled display.
Muskaan Mehra opened the scoring after good work from Devangi Mishra down the right flank. Just before half-time, Ayushi Modi scored to give Cathedral a strong foothold in the game.
The second half started the same way as the first with the Fort outfit edging St Xavier’s in arguably all the departments. Shamika Bhandarkar made it 3-0 midway through the second half with a fine long-range goal.
