An anonymous letter sent to the police about the circulating MMS clip lead to the arrest of the accused a year after the crime
officials of the Meghwadi police station have arrested two people for allegedly raping a 15-year-old girl.
The minor was lured by the accused into their home and then raped repeatedly, about a year back.
The duo -- identified as Paresh Pure (22) and Avinash Sawant (24) -- also recorded their crime on a phone camera and circulated the footage as an MMS.
They were arrested on Saturday, after an anonymous letter intimated cops about the video clip. According to the cops, about a year back, Sawant had called his victim over to his house.
Sawant then raped her, while Pure recorded the incident, and then proceeded to have his way with her as well.
They threatened to circulate the MMS if she revealed what had happened to her.
The terrified victim, who is a Class IX student, kept quiet about the incident.
The matter came to light a few days ago, when Meghwadi cops received an anonymous letter stating that an MMS clip of a minor's rape was being circulated.
The letter also revealed that the teenage victim was a Meghwadi local.
Acting on the tip off, cops started investigating the case in earnest, and traced the girl to her address.
The victim and her parents were summoned to the police station, and their statement was recorded.
Tracing the accused, they arrested the duo from a residence in Indira Nagar, in Meghwadi area at Jogeshwari.
After being produced in court, the two accused have been remanded in police custody till December 15.
