“Most of us played bad shots at the wrong time and I am part of that too. We keep losing games in the middle. We need to address this issue and recover as a batting group before our next match,” he added.

West Indies now have to win their final game against South Africa in Cardiff on Friday to progress to the knockout stages.u00a0The performance of Darren Bravo, who scored 35 off 83 balls, drew particular criticism from his half-brother.

“We have already spoken to him about his innings, it was one of his worst and we expect better from him,” the West Indian skipper said. “It’s a new experience for him. He is young. He is one of our better batters, and we have to let him know where he went wrong to get him better for team,” he added.

The all-rounder, who was without regular wicketkeeper Denesh Ramdin because of a two-match suspension, maintained his team can still make the semi-finals despite Tuesday’s defeat, and an injury to Test and Twenty20 skipper Sammy.

“India are a very good team and they deserve to be in the semi-finals,” Bravo said.u00a0“Hopefully we can learn from what happened today and join them. We know anything is possible if we get through.”
