E-mail reveals e-way accident

A forwarded e-mail showing pictures of an accident on the Hosur Road Expressway is circulating around the city and has caught the city police by surprise.

The e-mail being sent around by techies in the city depicts a collision between a cab and a bike on the recently inaugurated elevated expressway.

As seen in the photographs, the cab belongs to SRS Tours and Travels and is in the wrong lane of the expressway. The travel company admitted that cab number KA D8619 was involved in an accident but refused to comment on the condition of the victims or the state of the vehicle. "Yesterday there was an accident but nobody died. However, we cannot comment more on this," said Satish S, an official from the administrative department of SRS Tours and Travels.

However, the policemen from the two local police stations, under whose jurisdiction the expressway falls, denied being aware of any such accident. Instead they kept passing on the buck to one another.

Till Koodlu, the flyover is under the jurisdiction of the Madiwala police station while the rest of the stretch is under the Electronic city police station. "I don't know of any accident. There was a minor one between vehicles but we are not sure as there was no complaint," said P Venkatesh, the Inspector, Madiwala police station.

The Electronic City police station was also unaware of any such event and even the police control room could not provide any information.

This is the second accident in the last two days. On February 7, around 5.50 am, a lady was run over by an unidentified tempo at the silk board junction, which marks the beginning of the flyover.

"Since nobody took down the number, we have no clue about the tempo. But we are searching for the driver," said Muttanna.
