The Special Branch of the Pune police investigated a case, based on a tip-off and found that Samar Ahmed Mohammad Ahmed Ilmavi, a 38-year-old Egyptian national who was in the city on a tourist visa, was giving religious discourses.

She was arrested and deported to Egypt, as she was not allowed to engage in such activities while on a tourist visa. Ilmavi was staying at Hotel Aurora Tower in Camp for the past few months and her visa was valid till July 2013.

“Though she was on a tourist visa, she was involved in giving religious discourses at various places in the city. As per her visit visa norms, she cannot do any such work,” said Police Inspector C P Patil.
