EK - The Power of One - Movie Reviews

What's it about: Be afraid, very afraid, is what we are told every time Bobby Deol raises his eyebrow and stares us in the face.

Yes we are afraid, in fact petrified of what's about to follow.

A story of a hitman trading places with a village bumpkin when he's accidentally bumped off only to be the doting grandson, chacha, mama, boyfriend, maybe even Captain Planet if required!

A story about the same age-old drama of family values, unrequitted love, corrupt politicians and everything possible angle you can think of, Ek tries hard to be a stylish drama, but fails miserably on every front.u00a0

What's hot: Bobby Deol's neatly ironed hair that stay still even if he was in the midst of a hurricane, deserve a special mention! A couple of fight sequences are well shot.

What's not: You cringe, chuckle a bit, even try to be patient, but it's really tough bearing a script that seems to be written on a torn housie ticket! There's nothing new that Sivan offers in technique, style or narration.

In fact, he believes going back in time and revisiting the '90s with the corny jokes and bad sexual innuendos (courtesy Nana Patekar).

Kulbhushan Khar-banda as the baujee leads the ham brigade making you wonder why the character actor is taking on such thankless roles (last week's Aloo Chaat?).

Shriya Saran looks more like a detergent selling model than a Punjabi girl. Bobby seems happiest when he's fighting, at least he doesn't have to deliver those awful dialogues!

What to do: Strictly avoidable, Ek should have gone directly to DVD.
