Actor and TV reality show star Kamaal R Khan who was to contest on Samajwadi Party ticket from north west Mumbai has decided to quit the party.

Speaking to mid-day the actor and aspiring politician said, "I am quitting the party and now will contest as an independent candidate."
He also added , "I cannot get along with Abu Azmi's son Farhan. He did not like my comments on Twitter but I cannot dance to other people's tune."
Samajwadi leader Abu Azmi has accepted party made a mistake by choosing Kamal R Khan as candidate from Mumbai northwest.
Speaking to midday, Samajwadi leader Abu Azmi, said “We did not know much about him when he chose him as our party candidate. But later we started getting negative feedback about him and his vulgar and obnoxious tweets were spoiling the party’s image. So we told him to withdraw his candidature.”
On being told that KRK claimed that he quit the party, Azmi said “It hardly matters to u,s we accept that taking him was a mistake.”
Samajwadi party is yet to announce Khan’s replacement for the Mumbai north west constituency
Azmi also said, "KRK should understand that politics is not like film industry where you are likely to get away ny saying anything. In politics, people are accountable for the statements they make."
