The list of popular bars and lounge in Thane will surprise many. Including us. Fighting for attention of Thane’s (and its surrounding suburbs) tipplers, British Brewing Company (BBC) is a new entrant.

Located at the entrance of Viviana mall, BBC looked very enticing with its keg-style seating area and flashy tablet menus that spell cool and swish. Impressed with the interiors, we found a table and placed our orders: Chicken Cigar Rolls (Rs 300, all prices tax-exclusive) and Cheese Chilli Kebab (Rs 325). Since the bar is yet to open, we settled for a Chocolate Banana Smoothie (Rs 210) and Elvis Presley Milk Shake (Rs 250).
Well before we could make ourselves comfortable our orders had arrived! We liked the quick service especially since it was a packed house, and a Sunday evening too. Another aspect that surprised us was the patron count despite no alcohol menu. The bar snacks got our instant thumbs up: the Cigar Rolls were cheesy with generous bits of herbed chicken, which was wiped off quicker than the service. The vegetarian kebabs (though a little doughy) worked for us. We found the smoothies overpriced.
Apart from starters, BBC also serves, pasta, burgers and wraps. We opted for Basil Pesto Chicken Pizza (Rs 446) and Shepherd’s Pie (Rs 300). The pizza wowed us, again for its portions and taste; the crust was perfectly baked – thin yet strong enough to hold all the toppings together. Sadly, for a bar that boasts of being British in its title, the pie disappointed with its mashed potato overkill; even the thick layer of cheese couldn’t salvage it.
The Chicken Pizza got our thumbs up
Minor grouses aside, BBC can make it work with it’s great service, and food, topped with alcohol.
