EPL: Mancini vows to win title next season after 2-1 win over United

Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini has said that he is sure that City can win the Premier League title next season following the Blues 2-1 victory over rivals Manchester United on Monday at Old Trafford.

Although the win trimmed United’s lead over City to 12 points with seven games to go, Mancini maintained that the title race is over for them, but said that City can be crowned champions again in 2013-14 and will never trail United by such a huge margin again, the Mirror reports.

Admitting that his side made some mistakes this year, the Italian said that he is ready to start building for the next season, adding that his team has two to three months to improve themselves for a PL victory.

According to Mancini, City showed that they should not have been 15 points behind United, adding that their rivals deserved to win the title as they lost their last game, against Norwich, way back in November.

Mancini further said that one of the reasons behind his side’s inability to clinch the PL title this season was the injuries suffered by important players like Sergio Aguero, Yaya Toure and skipper Vincent Kompany, and added that they are not a team that loses three or four important players like this.

The only downside for City was a hamstring injury to David Silva, which looks to have ruled him out of Sunday''s FA Cup semi-final against Chelsea at Wembley, the report added.
