Platini struck his nine goals in just five matches at the 1984 European Championships, while it has taken the Portuguese star 20 matches (which is also a record) to achieve his mark.
The Real Madrid ace can now go past Platini if he scores in Sunday's Euro 2016 final at Saint-Denis.
