Poland defeated Switzerland 5-4 in a penalty shoot-out in the Euro 2016 round of sixteen football match at the Geoffroy-Guichard stadium in Saint-Etienne, France.

Both Poland and Switzerland were tied 1-1 after extra time.

Jakub Blaszczykowski put Poland ahead in the first half before Xherdan Shaqiri brought the Swiss level in the 82nd minute.

Poland won a spot to the quarter finals through a penalty by midfielder Grzegorz Krychowiak after Arsenal star Granit Xhaka missed a crucial kick for the Swiss.

They will go on to meet the winner of Croatia vs Portugal next in the quarter-finals on Thursday.
