“Around 11 pm on Saturday, a woman was waiting for her husband to pick her up from Tilak Chowk. While she was waiting, the accused who were standing nearby started passing lewd comments at her while she was talking to her husband over the phone,” PSI D R Pawar of Nigadi police station said.u00a0The woman told her husband about the trio and asked him to come early and pick her up, as there were only a few people around.u00a0

“She told her husband that some people were harassing her and asked him to come quickly. When her husband reached the chowk, the trio was loitering nearby. He immediately called Kalbhor and Ram for help, as it was difficult for him to take on the trio alone,” Pawar said.

Within minutes Kalbhaor and Ram reached spot on a motorcycle and went up to the trio to demand an explanation for their action. Soon, their dispute turned into brawl and the duo was attacked with a sword and a sharp weapon. After attacking the duo, the accused fled the spot.

After the assailants left, the woman, and her husband rushed the injured to a nearby private hospital. Kalbhaor lodged a complaint at the Nigdi police station against the three attackers.

“On the basis of Kalbhor’s description, we launched a manhunt to nab the assailants and they were held on Sunday morning,” Pawar said yesterday.

Of the three assailants, two adults were identified as Ranjit Chavan (21) and Rakesh Gangavane (20). All three were from Dalvinagar.u00a0
