Israel carries joint missile test with US
The Israeli military has confirmed it was involved in a joint missile exercise with US forces in the eastern Mediterranean. First reports about activity in the area came from the Russians who said they had tracked two objects, which ended up in the sea.u00a0Initially, there were fears in Syria it may have been an attack on its territory.u00a0Later, the Israeli military said it was a joint exercise with US forces, which are stationed off the Syrian coast. The defence ministry said it had tested a missile used as a target in a US-funded anti-missile system. The news emerged as US President Barack Obama waits for Congress to vote on any military strike against Syria over the use of chemical weapons.
