Jyotsna Prashant Khandagle, arrested on Thursday for trying to extract a Rs 30 lakh donation from the director of a school, invited the wrath of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) activists. They climbed on the police van, shouted slogans against her and damaged her personal car while she was inside the Pimpri court.

The activists thought Jyotsna was granted bail. But she was sent to magisterial custody. Jyotsna, a former MNS worker, was expelled from the party after she asked for Rs 30 lakh from administrators of the Priyadarshani School run by Hardevsingh Baba Educational Institute.

Lies
According to Rajendra Singh, CEO of Priyadarshini School, "She told us that she was collecting the money for the MNS. When I contacted MNS Pimpari Chinchwad chief Manoj Salunkhe, he told me that the party had expelled her." Singh also has a DVD that shows Jyotsna asking for money.

On camera
"We installed three video cameras in the office, as we were aware that she would demand Rs 30 lakh on June 16," explained Singh. She allegedly told the administration that if they pay the money, the MNS won't trouble them. Salunkhe told MiD DAY, "All activists who bring a bad name to the MNS won't be spared." He added Jyotsna was removed in May because of the increasing complaints against her.
