The Delhi police, it seems, was caught between a rock and a hard place on Friday night. According to sources, a wedding ceremony was on at union cabinet minister Subodh Kant Sahay's 11 Akbar Road house and the DJ was playing loud music. At around 11.45pm a call was made to the Police Control Room (PCR) by one of Sahay's neighbours.

A wedding ceremony was taking place at member of parliament Subodh
Kant Sahay's home.

Cops were immediately on their toes because the caller was the son of former Chief Election Commissioner SY Quraishi.

"Mustapha Quraishi the son of Chief Election Commissioner of India, Shahabuddin Yaqoob Quraishi did make a call on PCR to complain against loud music at the wedding. We were in a dilemma as people from both sides had political clout," said a police source.

Speaking with this reporter, Mustapha Quraishi said that he made the first PCR call at around 11.45pm and the police van reached after fifteen minutes.

"The PCR personnel could not do anything. They appeared helpless. I again made a call on PCR. Again the same thing happened. Finally police personnel from Tughlak Road police station had to intervene. They reached at the wedding venue at around 1.30am and the music was stopped at around 2am," he said.

SY Quraishi's bungalow is right next to Sahay's house. His son was at home on Friday night. He was reportedly facing problems in sleeping and so decided to call the cops.

However, a senior police official told this reporter that a PCR call was received at around 11.30pm and the music was stopped within half an hour.

The incident was reported from the Wincer Palace Club at Indirapuram around midnight.
According to the police, the incident took place when SDM Vishal Singh went to the club at Wincer Palace and requested the club management not to play loud music at night. "He was trying to help his children in their studies but the loud music from the club located inside the residential complex distracted them. He then went down to the club around 11.30pm to request the organizers to turn down the music," said a police officer.
Sources at Indirapuram police station said that as soon as Singh requested Chowdhry to turn down the music, the latter protested. "The verbal duel soon turned ugly and the accused and his friends beat up the SDM and his PSO. The SDM then called police who soon arrived at the spot and arrested Chowdhry and three of his associates," the officer added.
