"All the three contenders fought valiantly till the end," she told MiD DAY.

Malleswari could be partially right, but the truth is that the battle was for the silver and bronze medals between Indian Sukhen Dey and VS Rao. For, the gold medal winner, Malaysia's AH Ibrahim, was by far the best competitor on the day.

"They gave us all the support we needed," he said and assured that many more medals in this sporting discipline could be expected because all the participants are in good shape.

Malaysian Ibrahim added one more gold to his three previous CWG triumphs. "I am very happy," he said in broken English after his colleagues translated questions at the post-event media briefing.u00a0 In the end, it was two more medals in weightlifting for the Indian contingent.
