The committee of experts working on the detailed project report on the revitalisation and upgradation of the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) submitted their report to the governing council last week.

It also mentions that the course structure of the three-year course has been extending for more than five years because of which students have been staying on campus for five years.u00a0

PK Nair, Chairman, mentions that the issue is of utmost urgency and requires immediate attention.

"The exercises of the students are not being completed because of which students end up staying for more than three years. For the development of the institute, we have to tackle the issue first or else there is no question of development," he said.

The plan submitted also includes a week-to-week programme implementation for the next 16 months and list of additional resources the institute needs to acquire to clear the backlog.

Nair also mentions that the Governing Council has asked for two weeks where they will study the report
thoroughly and later submit their view.
