The kite-flying season of Makar Sankranti may bring immense joy to kids and adults alike, but it often turns out to be a dreaded affair for the birds soaring the skies. Kites cut the flight of these birds mercilessly as many of them meet their doom.

Mocha Treehuggers is raising awareness about this through a photo exhibition titled The Kite Photo Festival 2012.
A photo contest was organised with the theme of the kite-flying season affecting the environment and birds and the winning entries will be showcased at the exhibition, starting tomorrow.
The event, which has been organised in collaboration with ArtUmbrella and The Root, will also witness a talk by Anand Pendharkar, founder director of an NGO called SPROUTS.
Anand will throw light on Birds within the Urban Jungle and the Crisis Situation. In addition, there will also be a screening of a short film by Mike Pandey called Vanishing Vultures.

ON Today, 6.30 pm to 8.30 pm
