Silverstone (United Kingdom): Mercedes have announced they will not challenge the decision by the stewards to penalise Nico Rosberg with a timed penalty in Sunday's British Grand Prix.

Rosberg finished behind winner Lewis Hamilton at the rain-hit Silverstone race, but was subsequently demoted to third after he was hit with a 10-second timed penalty for a breach of the sport's strict radio rules.

Following a near four-hour investigation, the stewards determined that Rosberg's Mercedes team were guilty of instructing him how to resolve a gearbox issue in the closing stages of the race.

Mercedes initially said it was their intention to appeal the verdict but in a statement released on Monday night, Formula One's all-conquering team said they will now be taking no further action.
