NCP MLA Laxman Jagtap called for the sacking of the district civil surgeon Vinayak More, accusing him of ineptitude in running the Civil Hospital in Aundh
The confrontation between the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) MLA and the district civil surgeon reached a fever pitch with the legislator accusing the doctor of incompetence in running the Civil Hospital in Aundh.
NCP MLA Laxman Jagtap yesterday called mediapersons to the hospital and highlighted the alleged shortcomings of the hospital administration and also said that the civil surgeon is unsuitable for the post and demanded his sacking.

The district civil surgeon Vinayak More had accused Jagtap of abusing doctors and damaging the hospital’s property after he paid a visit to the premise on Wednesday afternoon. Jagtap, however, denied the allegations.
Making a pointed reference to the management’s alleged ineptness, Jagtap said, “I have allotted Rs 20 crore for the hospital’s facelift, which includes renovation and installation of the latest medical equipment. But, till date they have only initiated the renovation work and there is no sign of installing the advanced medical equipment. There are around four dialysis machines, which were bought three months ago, but not a single one is installed yet.”
Jagtap also criticised the lack of basic facilities at the hospital, “The general ward has been converted into an ICU. There is no difference between the two.
The ventilators were also not available till yesterday, but today they have put one near a single bed. If this is the condition of the ICU, then how will they treat critical patients,” he said.
Refuting the MLA’s claims, a senior hospital staff, on condition of the anonymity, said, “There is a procedure for fund utilisation and it is ongoing. We have to follow the process. Things cannot be done instantly. If the MLA has allotted funds, it does not come straightaway to the hospital, but goes to specific department and then gets allocated.”
Dr B N Kakane, additional civil surgeon, said, “Today, I showed him the development work going on at the hospital. I was at the operation theatre yesterday when the incident occurred, so I don’t have any inkling about the fracas.”
Civil surgeon Vinayak More could not be contacted, as he is in Mumbai for some official work.
CM intervenes?
According to a source, taking cognisance of the alleged commotion at the hospital, the chief minister has asked the health minister to file a complaint against the MLA for abusing More. When Jagtap was informed of the development, he said, “If some one has filed a complaint against me for fighting for the poor and needy, let them do it.”u00a0
