You have grooved to his single Stereo Love many a time at pubs all over. MiD DAY caught up with Edward Maya who will be going behind the console in the Capital over the weekend. Here are excerpts:
Is this your first time in India? How excited are you and how do you think the Indian crowd will respond to your music?
It's not my first time in India, I have already a lot of fans in India and I partied with them until the morning light at least eight times until now! I love my India fans!
Growing up, who were the artists who inspired you to the most? Who would you like to collaborate with?
I was inspired by Queen, Sting and many others. I would love a collaboration with Sting.
You achieved success very quickly. What do you think is the reason?
I bring in the music industry a new wave...a new colour, something new, something fresh...and instruments! Real ones, not just computer music.
What makes you different from the other DJs around? Who is the one person you want to thank for that?
he difference is that I use also traditional instruments, not all is made on the computer. I would like to thank my family, my fans and my team from Mayavin Records.
What all instruments do you play and which is your favourite band?
Queen is my favorite band. Among instruments, I play the piano, guitar, saxophone and some traditional Romanian instruments. at the Music Conservatory I was in an orchestra.
What are you going to perform this time here? Will it be your own productions or do we get to see a mixture of different kinds of music?
The show live will be my own productions and what the public wants at the DJ set.
What advice would you give to the aspiring artists?
Have patience, talent and a lot of ambition!
