>>u00a0The Adventures of Tintin is a series of classic comic books created by Belgian artist Georges Remi, who wrote under the pen name of Herge. The series has been translated in more than 80 languages and more than 350 million copies have been sold.

>>u00a0The hero of the series is Tintin, a young Belgian reporter. He is aided by his faithful terrier dog Snowy. Herge himself features in several of the comics as a background character.

>>4u00a0The comic strip series has been admired for its clean, expressive drawings. Its engaging plots straddle a variety of genres: fantasy, mysteries, political thrillers, and science fiction.

>>u00a0Herge's personal life also affected the series; Tintin in Tibet, perhaps his most cerebral and emotional story, was heavily influenced by his nervous breakdown.

>>u00a0There have been exhibitions, festivals and musicals galore in the honour of Tintin. The Belgian Government has also released Tintin coins.
