The issue came to light after Harbhajan charged towards the stand, while the rest of the team members headed to the dressing room after England were bowled out and an early tea break was taken.u00a0

This writer heard three unruly fans commenting on Harbhajan’s fielding and bowling. “Why don’t you come and sit here and I will field for you,” said one fan, while the other said: “Bhajji wicket le… wicket le. Kya daal raha hai (Get wickets, get wickets, what are bowling?). So irked was the Turbanator that he appeared hell bent on taking them on by getting into the stand. However, he was convinced by a member of the Indian team’s support staff to ignore them.

Later, Harbhajan was seen talking to the police, who identified one fan and took him to the Marine Lines police station. “It was not a derogatory comment or anything racial. He was let off after a stern warning for inappropriate behaviour in public,” a cop told MiD DAY.

A companion of the fan said: “Bhajji must have been frustrated as England played well and he did not get to bowl right from the start of the innings. He vented his frustration on us.”u00a0
