Former India wicketkeeper-batsman will not be in Mumbai this week to receive a special award from BCCI after injuring himself
Farokh Engineer, the former India wicketkeeper, who was to receive a special award from the Board of Control for Cricket in India in Mumbai this Saturday, has expressed his inability to travel from his home in Manchester, England.

Engineer told MiD DAY yesterday that he fell and broke his right shoulder over the weekend. Engineer is recovering at his home in Manchester after a short stint in hospital.
“I am really disappointed that I cannot come to Mumbai to receive my award. I was looking forward to meeting all my friends,” said Engineer.
The BCCI, apart from honouring Kapil Dev with the CK Nayudu Lifetime Achievement award, will present special awards to former Test spinner Bapu Nadkarni and to a family member of the late Eknath Solkar.
Engineer said the injury has only added to his arthritis on his right shoulder caused by “all the diving and catching during my playing years.”
Engineer (75) was part of the Indian team that won the 1971 Test series in England under Ajit Wadekar.
