Forget Spring Summer, Autumn Winter or Pre fall. Fashion lovers will tell you that there’s no season as exciting as the awards season. Celeb scrutiny is easy to get addicted to and on Sunday night, even as the curtains went up on the 71st Annual Golden Globe Awards held at The Beverly Hilton Hotel in California, Hollywood’s hottest celebrities gave their fans ample reason to ooh and aah -- and alternately get shocked -- with their red carpet avatars. Red and black remained a favourite at the event, so did sequins. On the sartorial scale, we’d agree with Tina Fey’s toast when she described the night as the ‘beautiful mess we hoped it would be’. Worst dressed
Uma Thurman
The 43-year old actress has had her share of good moments on the red carpet but this surely isn’t one of them. Clad in a black gown by Atelier Versace, Uma just proved that a bad fit and shimmering fabric do not make for a style statement.

Heidi Klum
Klum is a successful model but if her Marchesa gown was anything to go by, one wonders how she has been immune to the dos and don’ts of fashion. White flowers woven on net spelt disaster for her; we are still reeling under shock over this debacle.
Emma Watson
The young actress is known to be a trendsetter but we don’t know what to make of this red Christian Dior outfit. Is it a dress or is it a costume? A pair of black trousers peeping from inside a dress with a bow has us befuddled.
Zoe Saldana
Did Zoe’s designer fall short of fabric while putting together this outfit? That’s the question that comes to mind when you look at her patchwork dress. She can surely do better than this eyesore.
Best dressed
Sandra Bullock
She is not known to be a clotheshorse but clearly, Prabal Gurung’s outfits have the magical power to bring about radical transformations. As a result, Sandra Bullock totally rocked this colour block gown; we loved the hair too.
Jennifer Lawrence
Here’s one actress who is on a roll these days. Not only did she win the Best Supporting Actress award for her role in American Hustle, but she also wowed one and all with her Dior Couture gown. At an event where most actresses chose bold and dark hues, Lawrence’s ethereal white was difficult to miss. Her subtle makeup and short hair only added to her charm. Now if only others took cue from her.
Taylor Swift
Swift may have played it safe with a bright red Carolina Herrera gown that had a dash of black, but we can’t complain because -- let’s face it -- she looked good!
Cate Blanchett
Classic beauty is easily the best way to describe this actress, and her eveningwear choices only serve to enhance her looks. At this awards event, Blanchett chose a stunning black Armani Prive gown to reiterate her red carpet supremacy.
Desi twist
Our very own Priyanka Chopra made heads turn at the 71st Golden Globe Awards. The only Indian celebrity to attend the event, PeeCee looked her ravishing self in a grey sequinned dress by India born, US-based designer Bibhu Mohapatra. Three cheers for team India, we say!
