With constant uploads of selfies and ‘candid’ photographs on social media sites, our wardrobes end up being less exclusive as outfits are spotted by many eyes. A smart idea to combat this scenario is the clothing rental option.

Stage 3, a Delhi-based designer clothing and accessories rental company, with a promising line-up, is now bringing cheer to fashion-savvy Mumbaikars. You can pick from a crop top and lehenga in the popular chintz print by Payal Singhal, a Sabyasachi Mukherjee net and floral print sari, a Shantanu and Nikhil fusion gown in red or a Manish Malhotra Anarkali, all at 10 per cent of the retail price of the garment.

What we liked about their offerings is that they stick to known names in the industry, and offer better designs compared to many other rental companies who offer unpalatable, factory and reject-style garments. The website is neatly divided into garments that suit different occasions. You can also let their stylist help you pick. Each outfit comes with a set of jewellery pieces and clutches, which you can rent to complete your look. Jewellery brands on offer include Amethyst, Outhouse and Amrapali.
However, they don’t seem to have a separate section for the accessories. As a deposit, they charge 10% of the cost of the garment (equivalent to the rental price).
But with so many good pieces to rent (there’s Riddhi Mehra, Anamika Khanna and Raw Mango too), the outfits seem to be snapped up soon, as many of the outfits we picked, had already been rented for the month. So, book in advance.
