The summer sun will soon be beating down but that's no excuse to dress shabby. The Guide offers you tips on what's hot and what's not this summer

Fashion rules for summer

While you may not be a fan of the summer heat and the humidity, on the plus side you can bring out those pretty summery dresses and let your hair down.

Tips for summer wear
During summer, it’s best to stick to cotton and wear something that’s comfortable. You can also wear a sun coat (similar to a cotton apron with colourful floral designs) to protect yourself from sun burns and from getting tanned.

You can also wear capris and T-shirts in vibrant hues for a casual look this season. “Chiffon summery dresses are a good option for summers. Flowy fabrics with a smooth soft touch would also go well on a hot summer day. Simple and casual colours can be striking.

One should wear clothes in summer that are easy to wear through the day and which can be transformed for a summer evening out with the right footwear and evening bag,” said designer Rasika Wakalkar.

Says law college student Sneha Kulkarni, “I love to wear chinos and capris in summer as they look trendy and are comfortable to wear. T-shirts are my favourite and I never forget to wear my hat, Wherever I go my hat is with me.”

Kiran Kulkarni, a second year student at FC College, seconded Kulkarni “In summer most of us wear a hat and cotton T-shirt. You will see boys in college wearing cotton jeans and flip-flops.”

Designer Priyanka Rajiv advises people to opt for skirts, tank tops, loose trousers and kaftans for summer.
