A horrific case of an honour killing was seen in the city, claiming the life of a girl, who is a minor. The case came to light after police Sub-Inspector Vilas Mate, from the Kashimira police station, was on his routine night duty. He overheard two waiters at a highway hotel talking about the mysterious disappearance of a girl who had come to the city from her village in Uttar Pradesh. Mate immediately took the two in for questioning.

Inquiries led Mate to Shivchandra Rajbhar alias Raju (42), a resident of Dachkulpada. After repeated interrogations, Rajbhar revealed that he, along with the prime accused Ramesh Rajbhar, had raped and murdered a 17-year-old girl about four days ago. Shockingly, Ramesh is the father of the girl.

The monster dad and his friend confessed to the murder and led the police to the crime spot, where the girl’s body was discovered in a highly decomposed state. “The girl had eloped to Uttan with a boy of her village in Gazipur district of Uttar Pradesh, two months ago. Her father, Ramesh Rajbhar, tracked her down and brought her to his friend’s house in Dachkulpada, where both tried to convince her to leave the boy,” said PSI Mate.

When she flatly refused, the duo forcibly took her to an isolated forest area, where they raped the girl before strangulating her to death with her own dupatta, said the police. A case under sections 302, 201, 376 (g) of the Indian Penal Code, and relevant sections of the stringent Protection of Children From Sexual Offences Act, 2012, has been registered against the duo. They have been remanded to police custody. Meanwhile, the post-mortem report revealed that the girl was four months pregnant. The boy is also missing and police are searching for him as well.u00a0
