FBI chief Robert Mueller met Union Home Minister P Chidambaram here on Tuesday to discuss security and terrorism related issues.

Mueller's visit comes after India and US shared details of intelligence and investigations of the 26/11 Mumbai terror strikes -- a joint effort which brought Pakistan to its knees and finally leading to admission by Islamabad that a part of the conspiracy was hatched on its soil.

Apart from Chidambaram, Mueller will meet National Security Advisor MK Narayanan and Intelligence Bureau chief Rajiv Mathur during which the two sides will discuss security issues including countering terrorism, official sources said.

Surprisingly, Mueller will not be meeting his counterpart - CBI chief Ashwani Kumar - during his stay in the country.

The FBI had helped investigators of 26/11 Mumbai attack in critical analysis of the technical evidences including the Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) and other details pertaining to Global Positioning System of the satellite phones used by the terrorists of Lashker-e-Toiba.

On its part, India allowed FBI to go through all evidences related to the country's worst terrorist attack and allowed to FBI detectives to interrogate those accused in custody.

The US is also trying to get access to the 26/11 suspects currently in Pakistan's custody.
