The 2009 champion is playing in his 46th consecutive major ufffd 45 more than his opponent ufffd and, after a scrappy opening, Federer went on a run of 13 consecutive games before closing out the victory 6-3, 6-0, 6-2 in an hour and 24 minutes.

The third seed said: "I had to keep my focus to start with because you never know what might happen and what he can produce. For one and a half sets you're really focussed, then after that you can relax a little."
After Rafael Nadal's epic encounter with John Isner yesterday,u00a0 Federer was happy to have his day's work finished by lunchtime. "I'm very happy with these types of matches," he added. "I can practice more but now I'm really in the tournament, which is a good thing."
It was certainly a challenging draw for 22-year-old Teixeira in his maiden grand slam, and Federer recalled his first big match against Andre Agassi as a 17-year-old in his home city of Basle. The 16-time grand slam champion said: "It was the first round. I couldn't believe the draw and, just like him (Teixeira), I was playing at home with all my friends and family watching. After the match (he lost 6-3 6-2) I thought I did my best. On one hand, you can't win. If you win, it's like a miracle, a crazy miracle. I thought I had played a good match against Agassi, and I hope that Teixeira thinks the same today."
Federer's opponent in the third round, Janko Tipsarevic, had an even easier time of it, beating Pere Riba 6-1, 6-3, 6-0.
