Female school teacher charged with rape, giving drugs to student
A female school teacher in New York has been charged with raping a 6th grade male student and plying him with drugs and alcohol
According to the police, Claudia Tillery from New York has been accused of rape, unlawful dealing of drugs and alcohol to a child, sexual misconduct, sexual abuse and acting in a manner injurious to a child.
Tillery, 42, was arrested by the 77th Precinct officials at her three-bedroom home on Rogers Ave., in Crown Heights, Brooklyn on Tuesday.
Tillery began teaching at Middle School 35, the Stephen Decatur School located at Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn since 1996 and earned 85,000 dollars a year.
The boy, now 14, who had been having a sexual relationship with Tillery for two years, decided to end it and come forward, sources claim.
"I just spoke to her last week [at parent teacher conference]," the New York Daily News quoted a parent Stanley Timo as saying.
"I'm shocked. She seemed very professional.
"This is a betrayal. It's hard to believe it. I'm glad she is out of the school," he added.
Department of Education spokeswoman Barbara Morgan said Tillery has been removed from the classroom pending the outcome of the criminal case and will be reassigned.
