Fiery curries, juicy kebabs beckon you this weekend plus 4 more must-catch events

Saturday and Sunday

Where: Bandra Gymkhana.
If you love Bandra for the fact that some of the city's best restaurants are tucked away in its bylanes, here's your chance to sample the best of what it has to offer. As part of the Celebrate Bandra Fest, fiery Goan curries from Cafe Goa, succulent kebabs from Kareem's, yummy noodles from Asia Wok and piping hot Biryani from Lucky' will come together to entice your taste buds. Ad filmmaker Prahlad Kakkar's restaurants Just Barbeque and Sadak Chaap also find stalls here. It's all the grub you could ask for, served under one roof in an informal setting. And that's not all. Raise a toast with One Above On Toes, that will fix you some drinks while live bands get you in the mood.

Watch The Battle Of Algiers a highly political film about the Algerian struggle for independence. The film traces the rebels' struggle and the extreme measures taken by the French government to quell what soon becomes a nationwide revolt. But it is the extraordinary photographic virtuosity and pictorial conviction of this film that could make one believe that it's a real-life documentary. Once you get your fill of history, soak in sublime jazz with the world-renowned James Ryan Quartet from Australia. Ryan has a penchant for improvisation on three instruments (tenor sax, flute and saxello), which makes for a fascinating performance.

Bliss out at Bandra

Bliss Logic's music is easy on the ears with elements of electro, drum 'n' bass, rock, jazz and blues, coalescing to create an intimate mood with a subtle message. With Lima Yanger on vocals, JD Thirumalai on bass, Sanjay Joseph on guitars and Lindsay D'mello on drums, the band music could be classified as dreamy, ethereal rock that you could cosy up with on a nippy night.
