A major fire that broke out today on the 12th floor of First International Financial Centre building in Bandra-Kurla Complex was brought under control after over three hours of effort, an official said.
No casualties have been reported.
The fire broke out at around 10.45 am. However, it cannot be said how long it will take to contain it entirely, a fire brigade official said.
Nine fire engines and five water tankers were still making efforts to douse the fire that engulfed the 12th floor of the building.
According to eyewitness accounts, the building was newly constructed and housed no offices owing to ongoing refurbishment work.
There were few construction workers in the building who were evacuated.
Surrounding buildings were also evacuated. The cause of the fire has still not been ascertained.
