After several cases of suicide at the Bandra-Worli Sea Link, a 32-year-old man was saved by fishermen after he jumped off the bridge. The man, identified as Rajesh Sharma, had come to the sea link around 4 am on September 14, and tried to commit suicide.

The Andheri resident has an online currency trading business, and has suffered losses of around Rs 65 lakh in the last eight months. According to the police, he had to return money to around 35 clients and was stressed because of it.

“Rajesh jumped from the Bandra-Worli Sea Link at 4 am, but was saved by fishermen who handed him over to us. He had also left a suicide note at his house in Four Bungalows, stating that he was taking the step after suffering financial losses in his business,” said a police officer from Worli police station. Worli police registered the complaint and Rajesh was produced to court before he was granted bail.
