PI Ajay Kadam of the Chaturshringi police station said, “Ashish was on his way home on his bike when he was knocked down by a car near a petrol pump on Baner Road on Tuesday evening. The moment Ashish fell off his motorcycle, the five accused emerged from the car and started assaulting him with hockey sticks.”

After assaulting the lawyer, the five fled the spot in the same car. It were a few onlookers who rushed Ashish to the hospital. “He sustained multiple injuries and fractures. He is recuperating and said to be out of danger,” Kadam said.

He said while the reason behind the attack was yet to be ascertained, all the five accused were booked under Section 307 (attempt to kill) and other relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
