At least five children - all below the age of 10 - died after a under-construction wall collapsed on them Wednesday, a fire brigade official said.

The incident took place in Dallupura area near Mayur Vihar Phase III of Delhi.

"We got a telephone call at 9.30 am. We managed to pull out five children from the rubble and rushed them to hospital," the official said.

The children were taken to the Lal Bahadur Shastri hospital where they were declared dead.

Rescue operations are underway as officials fear that more people may be trapped under the debris.
