Five people have been arrested for their suspected involvement in what appears to be a case of serial killings, in which three mill owners were killed at three different places over the past three months, all using the same methods

All three deceased and the five suspects arrested are natives of Azamgarh in Uttar Pradesh. Police are looking for anything that connects the five arrested suspects.
The murders began with the killing of mill owner Rajkumar Jaiswal (38) inside his shop at Kalachowki in Kalyan on September 27.
It was followed the next month with the murder of Devilal Jaiswal (30), who was found dead inside his shop at Mumbra on October 4.
The third victim Phulchandra Yadav was found dead at Dahisar on November 22 (‘Serial killer on the loose targeting flour mill owners?’ MiD DAY, December 1).
Noticing the similarities in all three murders, cops from all three areas started a joint investigation process, coordinating their efforts. While examining the killings, they realised that all three victims were killed on their weekly holiday. In each case, a hammer was used to bludgeon the victim, and flour was placed to stop the blood from seeping out of the shop.
Suspects arrested
Mumbra police arrested Tiltu Jaiswal and Premchand Jaiswal on December 3, both of whom had previously worked for the deceased. Dahisar police arrested Ramesh Madesia on December 3. According to police, Madesia was the deceased person’s friend. Bazarpeth police in Kalyan have arrested two suspects, but did not provide any details.
“None of the arrested persons have confessed to their crime, and we cannot establish any motive for the murders. The arrests have been made on the basis of strong circumstantial evidence. We still believe that it may be case of serial murders,” said police officer investigating the case, on condition of anonymity. Police are now contemplating narco-analysis tests on the suspects to determine the truth.
Specific evidence
In the Dahisar murder, the police said the suspect arrested was the last person seen entering the flour mill. A wine shop owner identified him, as he had purchased liquor from him prior to the murder. The empty alcohol bottles were found at the crime spot. Neighbours also saw the suspect entering the store by lifting the shutters. Similarly, in the Mumbra and Kalyan murders, the arrested accused were the last persons seen entering the shops by neighbours.
