These ladies wear the pants not just in production but also in editing, writing as well as in casting. They are the ones who create stars and are a force to reckon with, due to their close proximity to the top celebrities and leading filmmakers...

As a writer with the Bhatts, she began with Woh Lamhe and has been part of the company in the capacity as dialogue writer and screenplay writer for films like, Aawarapan, Raaz 2, Jism 2, Murder 2, Raaz 3, Aashiqui 2 and others. She is also planning her directorial debut with Emraan Hashmi.

The film editor began with Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye! and went on to do films like Ishqiya, Band Baaja Baaraat, Love Sex aur Dhokha and Kahaani for which she bagged the National Award. For most filmmakers, she is the best scissor-hand.

As the casting director for Yash Raj films, everyone from Ranveer Singh to Arjun Kapoor to even South star Prithviraj have auditioned with her. In fact Prithvi has stated that it was the first-ever audition he gave in his life. With a slew of strugglers hoping for a meeting with her, she is a star-maker in her own right.

Along with Akshay Kumar, she launched a production house that aimed to make films high on content. Her first venture was OMG: Oh My God! As programming head of Colors, she gave up her cushy job to explore film production.

Having worked earlier with the Zee Network for over a decade in various roles, she has also worked as an assistant director with Kunal Kohli in producing TV shows. Her next venture is a Marathi film starring Tanishaa and Sumeet Raghavan.

During her outing at the recent Cannes film festival, she was credited for ‘giving a facelift to independent cinema and bridging the gap between Indian films and foreign buyers and distributors’. At the festival, two of her films The Lunchbox and Monsoon Shootout were acclaimed. A name synonymous with Anurag Kashyap’s production, she began as a production co-ordinator for international production.

She joined Anurag Kashyap Films and in 2008 began her own production company. Her first major international film was Kavi (2009) about bonded labour, which won the Student Academy Award Narrative. Her films include Gangs of Wasseypur, That Girl in Yellow Boots, Shaitan and Aiyyaa. She also raised nearly one crore for Peddlers made of a budget of Rs 2 crore by posting the film’s script on Facebook.u00a0
