The Australian cricketer-turned commentator was part of a strong line-up against the West Indies. He scored 3 and 19 runs and managed to scalp the wicket of Alf Valentine giving 14 runs during his bowling spell. Windies were bowled out for just 78 in the first innings. Surinder Amarnath (1976)
The son of legend Lala Amarnath and brother of Mohinder Amarnath became the 6th Indian batsman to score a century on his Test debut. He scored 124 runs in the second innings against New Zealand as India won by 8 wickets after stellar bowling performances by Bhagwat Chandrasekhar and Erapalli Prasanna.

Wasim Akram (1985)

Pakistan's 'Sultan of Swing' made his debut at 18 years of age against New Zealand. Akram did not even have any shoes for bowling prior to the tour. He failed to score any runs and picked up 2 wickets for 105 runs as New Zealand defeated Pakistan. But little did we know that a legendary bowler was in the making. (Pic/ midday archives)

Mark Waugh (1991)

Four years after his brother Steve Waugh made his debut, Mark Waugh made his entry in Tests. He replaced his brother in the squad. He announced himself with a stunning century against England which was praised by many. The Test ended in a draw, but not before Mike Atherton and Graham Gooch gave the Aussies a tough fight.
