This new watering hole on Lavelle Road sure knows its concoctions well and leaves you feeling on cloud nine

This new bar aptly named Cloud found us with our silver lining. Though at first glance it might come forth as an ordinary bar but don't be deceived by the looks. Infact, you can keep your expectations soaring as you walk right in and settle for no less than a seat at the bar.

Drinks: excellent
Service: pleasing
Ambience: comfortable

These we know are slightly tricky to get onto with or without alcohol induced vertigo but we weren't going to miss the action at the bar at any rate.u00a0

The seating that you could probably opt for when in a bigger group is comfortable and bright with bolsters thrown in to give you the perfect homely feel. On the day we dropped by, the DJ we were told was on leave and the staff doubled up for make shift DJs. The music nevertheless was non-intrusive and hardly caught any attention.

We were handed in the menu with strong suggestions from our bartender Alex to give it a pass and let him mix up a concoction live based on our choice of poison. A pale pink Cosmopolitan, Alex's style (R 300) was what came our way. Take a whiff before your first sip we suggest and let the tangy mandarin fragrance hit you.

With measured quantities of orange and cranberry juice, vodka and grated orange rind to top it, the cocktail was tangy with a burst of flavours, smooth and rather potent with its alcohol content. We were now beginning to trust the bartender's skills and this launched him into a frenzy of flair tricks that resulted in bringing to our table a surprisingly mustard coloured Chocolate Martini (Rs 300).

A combination of chocolate syrup and vodka the martini glass came drizzled with liquid chocolate. This one was mellow with its flavours in comparison to the citrus overtones the previous one came with. The flavours of the syrup infused with the chocolate settled rather mildly on our throats and the vodka blended without the slightest bit of an unsettling feeling.

Satiated on the drinks front, we teamed them with some finger food, Mutton Sheekh Kebab (Ru00a0 235) and Mutton Balls (Rs 235). The kebabs were tender, luscious and exuded a strong flavour of cardamom and crumbled on our forks which we took for a good sign.

The meat balls, heavily spiced and garnished generously with onions could easily take you back to the comforting taste of street food. You could also choose from a small selection of mini meals if you are looking for something heavy.

The last in line was a white-green tinted shot glass filled with what they call Oh My Gosh (Rs 400) and our bartender Alex refused to part with the secret recipe for it. We figured it was a lime and vodka fusion with a lump of jelly at its base that leaves you with something to chew on after the alcohol rush.

Don't be too surprised if the bartender declares bar games time post this, we tried and we did come out learning quite a few tricks we intend to try at home.
