"Klas Ingesson died this morning," said the club from Boras in west Sweden on their internet site. Ingesson, who played 57 times for Sweden and was part of the squad that finished third at the 1994 World Cup in the United States, had left his functions as Elfsborg coach in October.

He had been suffering from multiple myeloma, a cancer of the white blood cells, since 2009. During his playing career, Ingesson turned out for teams in England, France, Italy, Belgium and the Netherlands, having begun his career at IFK Gothenburg.
