Former India opening batsman Virender Sehwag may have retired from cricket, but he can't be kept out of the headlines because of his second innings as a Twitter star.

Sehwag, who has over 8 million followers on the micro blogging site, was at it again on Saturday as he applauded Parthiv Patel for his brilliant knock that helped Gujarat to a historic win and ensured thy lifted the Ranji Trophy for the very first time.

The 38-year-old Delhiite, who has a lighter and defter touch with 140 characters then he did during his hey days in the middle, tweeted, "Nikke se @parthiv9 ne kar diya itna bada kaam. Chota Packet,Bada Dhamaka . #ChotaChetan helps Gujarat win #RanjiTrophy ."

Gujarat clinched their maiden Ranji title as they rode on their captain Parthiv's stupendous 143 to beat record champions Mumbai by five wickets on the final day of the 83rd Ranji Trophy final at Indore on Saturday.

It was the second time that Gujarat had made the final of the prestigious domestic tournament and first in 66 years. They have shown gradual improvement as a team, having won the 50-over Vijay Hazare Trophy last season and T20 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in the preceding year.

Pint-sized Patel showed why his 168 First-Class matches couldn't have been taken lightly. More so because his 90 in the first innings was the reason Gujarat got a 100-run lead. The oldest member of the Gujarat team, he's just seven weeks short of his 32nd birthday, scored his 25th century in first-class cricket and it was all guts.
