Los Angeles: Former 'The Bachelor' contestant Erin Storm has died after the single-engine plane she was piloting crashed after taking off from Hawthorne Municipal Airport. She was 41.
Erin Storm was in cardiac arrest when emergency crews arrived and was pronounced dead at the hospital, reported Ace Showbiz. According to police, "a nearby construction crew witnessed the crash and was able to remove the pilot from the wreckage prior to the arrival of emergency services."
Erin Storm "was treated by LA County Fire personnel, and transported by ambulance to Harbor UCLA Medical Center in Carson," but she did not survive.
Erin Storm, who was vying for Matt Grant's heart in season 12 of the reality dating series, was living in California and worked for Pacific Blue Air, an aircraft training facility at the LA airport.
It's currently unknown what caused the plane to go down. The crash is still being investigated by both the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Traffic Safety Board. Grant, who proposed to contestant Shayne Lamas in the show's season finale but later ended their relationship, said that he's "massively shocked" after learning of Storm's sudden passing.
He added, "Devastated for her family and friends. We were lucky to have Erin on season 12. She was genuine, self-assured, beautiful and hilarious." Storm's friends took to social media to mourn her death.
